e3 Strategies developed and implemented a certificate program to meet the training needs of electric cooperatives who want to develop the skills of their mid-level managers and increase team performance.
Challenge: Develop a certificate program to meet the training needs of electric cooperatives who want to develop the skills of their mid-level managers and increase team performance. Focus groups with CEOs and mid-level managers identified skills gaps among the mid-level management group. Existing training programs, attended by many mid-level managers because they lacked better options, did not accommodate their specific professional development needs.

Solution: Understanding how the intermediate management group's needs differed from supervisors and senior managers was key to success in this project. e3 Strategies targeted the mid-level management audience and helped NRECA define the knowledge, skills, and behaviors (competencies) necessary for success and growth at that level.
Keeping the needs of mid-level managers at the forefront of strategy, curriculum development, and implementation maximized marketability for NRECA, ensuring a balance between building competencies within the workforce and generating revenue.
