NRECA is another example of a client we’ve partnered with for over a decade.

The first project was in 2007, when e3 Strategies advised the Education and Training team on how to best design, develop, and implement a new framework for meeting members’ professional development needs.

Challenge

What is the best way to offer education programs directly tied to the business objectives of electric cooperatives?

Focus groups with CEOs and mid-level managers identified skills gaps among the mid-level management group as their greatest opportunity and risk. Existing education programs were well attended by mid-level managers, but didn’t meet their specific development needs or position their cooperatives for growth.

Solution

Determining the competencies required from each level of management in order to meet cooperative goals was the key to success. e3 Strategies targeted the mid-level management audience and helped NRECA define the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for success and growth at that level.

Keeping the business needs of their members at the forefront of strategy, curriculum development, and implementation maximized marketability for NRECA, ensuring a balance between building competencies within the workforce and generating revenue.

The approach was so successful, NRECA soon adopted it for other audiences and education programs. They’ve built it out over the years and now offer nine distinct learning paths across a variety of topic areas and roles.
