e3 Strategies has worked on diverse projects for the Smithsonian.

Some have been for external audiences, such as museum goers and web site visitors, and some have been for Smithsonian employees. Here’s an example.

Challenge

The majestic Sant Ocean Hall exhibit shows visitors that we live on an ocean planet and our health is intertwined with the oceans.  When visitors leave, we want them to be inspired to learn and do more.

What are the best ways to extend the learning experience with online content that meets our high standards?

What resources are needed and what are the ongoing costs?

Solution

e3 Strategies was hired during the design of the Sant Ocean Hall to help with the conception of the Ocean Portal and Ocean Today Kiosk.  After leading focus groups with internal and external stakeholders and potential donors, we proposed a strategy that involved collaborating with leading marine science organizations, aquariums, and educational organizations to continuously generate and share high-quality content through an online portal.

Once the strategy was approved, e3 Strategies led the process of creating evaluation criteria, researching potential collaborators, and recruiting them. We were then hired again to manage the collaboration process through the analysis, design and development stages of the Ocean Portal and the Ocean Today kiosk.
